Coffee Basics: Espresso menu



Espresso................

7 grams of freshly ground coffee, extracted between 20–30 seconds with a drink size of no more than 40mls.

Espresso ristretto.....

restricted or short espresso. The extraction time is restricted and the result is a very strong, syrupy drink.

Espresso romano......

espresso served with a twist of lemon.

Espresso macchiato..

espresso stained with a little steamed milk.

Doppio espresso.......

simply a double espresso.

Espresso con panna..

espresso topped with a little whipped cream and dusted with chocolate.

Caffe nero................

single or double espresso poured over 1/3rd water in a standard cup.

Cappuccino..............

1/3rd espresso, 1/3rd steamed milk, 1/3rd frothed milk served in a standard cup and dusted with chocolate powder.

Caffe latte................one or two shots of espresso poured simultaneously into a cup or glass with three times as much steamed milk.

Espresso mocha........

espresso mixed with equal amount of hot chocolate and topped with steamed milk.

Latte macchiato........espresso poured over a glass of steamed milk, creating a layered effect.
