Latest Press release from Hermitage Road Bar & Restaurant
Hitchin’s coffee lovers are in for a treat as our brand spanking new coffee machine has arrived intown. The Faema E71 is one of the very first in the country, shipped in from Italy it is the latest invention from the iconic coffee machine masters at Faema, set up by Carlo Ernesto Valente wayback in 1945. We have had some great feedback from our regulars about the quality of flavour, come by and try for yourself.
We are extremely passionate about coffee and individuality cross Anglian Country Inns, which is why each one of our sites select their beans of choice. The White Horse and The Kings Head in Letheringsett have selected Grey Seal coffee from a small batch coffee roaster based from a nearby village in Norfolk. Hermitage Rd and Co have favoured ‘The Daily’ from Caravan Coffee Roasters based in the uber trendy Granary Square at Kings Cross London.
Our new loyalty card is our way of looking after our favourite people and rewarding your loyalty. It has lots of great perks including a free glass of wine or Peroni if you register before the end of September, free bar snacks, double gins and birthday treats. It also gives you your 7th coffee on the house and 9th pizza on the house across all of our restaurants.
Some of you are finding it really handy to load the card up with credit so you don’t need to carry cash, and when you do there is the added bonus of an extra 5% to spend from us. Pick up your card and register online at:
This smiley face is always there to welcome you when you pop in for a coffee at Hermitage Rd and Co Coffee and Bagle bar. Since she works so hard to remember all of her regular’s coffee and treat of choice, we thought it was only right that we found out a little but more about her…
Her full name is Magdalena Dorofejczuk (you’d need a strong cuppa before even attempting to spell that)
She is from the small town of Radzyn Podlaski in Poland
She has worked in coffee for 15 years
She favours the exoctic fruity notes of a medium roast Etheopian served straight up as an espresso or with a touch of milk in a cortado.
She has her very own coffee van called Iris & White which she loves to bring to local train stations (Arlsey Tuesday to Friday 5:30am to 8:30am), festivals and she has even brought it along to make Espresso Martinis at weddings for her coffee shop regulars.
If you fancy having Iris come along for your private event then come and have a chat with Magda.
Her favourite thing to do that doesn’t involve coffee is running and hiking.
We try and do our bit to help keep the world beautiful. One way we try and reduce waste to help the environment is to serve our coffee in reusable cups. You can bring in your own coffee cup and we will give you 25p off your coffee. We also searched high and low for the best re-usable cup we could find and settled on the Upper Cup, which helps insulate your coffee so its nice and hot. You can buy two different sized 8 oz (perfect for cappuccino and flat white) and 12 oz (even better for long black and lattes) in our shop. Let’s save the world one coffee at a time.
Our beloved charity toaster is also helping us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Come and help yourself to toast, jam, marmite and peanut butter and just pop some change into the charity box to help us raise more. We are hoping to raise a whopping £20,000 for charity across the family business in this our 20th year, it’s a big goal but we are running, sky diving, swimming and walking our way towards it. Suddenly toast seems like a much easier option hey!
